As writers and consumers, we’ve had some sad news this month: the closing of Lifeway’s physical stores. If you’re an author, how do you think that news will affect you? (See the links to articles below.)

INSPIRATION

Are you a worrier? Then remind yourself of Who God is with “How to Stop Worrying – Know the Names of God” on the blog Counting My Blessings.

Barely Thriving” by Julie B. Cosgrove is a sweet devotional to read, especially when feeling down or useless.

The “Signs of Life” devotion on the Arise DAILY Devos site really zapped me, because I’d probably be tempted to say the lifestyle needs to change. Yes, it does, however, there’s that “But God…” (don’t you love those two words?).

READING

Have you ever read a book that wowed you through the voice of the character(s)? On her blog, author Jocelyn Green gives readers her take on “13 Authors Who Nail Voice.”

Hmm… Not totally sure about number twelve in “Twelve Rules for the Bookish Life (Of course, the bookish life needs no rules.)” on Comment. Which one do you relate to most?

Bethany House did “Ask Bethany House: What Annoys Authors Most?” with questions/reader issues their authors have dealt with. Amy Green posted ways readers can subtly change their inquiry to make things less uncomfortable for the author.

WRITING

We all face those times when the writing life is anything but bliss. I’ve experienced it lately, and I’m sure you have too. That’s why I enjoyed “Beat the Author Blues: How to Manage Writer’s Doubt” on the Written Word Media blog.

As you may know, I indie published my latest, A Love Most Worthy, so I was encouraged by this Publishers Weekly’s article “Indie Authors Find Firm Footing in Christian Market.”

Publishing is changing. We’re always hearing it. Here are some links to posts involving the closing of the Lifeway Christian stores. Lifeway blog post announcing the closures. Steve Laube blog with a somewhat optimistic take. A post from Marketing Christian Books.

And for your funny this month:
